Hey hey hey! I’m Luna! That's me in the photo, I look a bit like a tiger huh? And I've decided it's time this little tiger started looking for her forever family! I’m about 6 months old and came to Amigos a few months back with my two brothers when we were really little. Unfortunately, I lost them both when we had the horrible Parvovirus outbreak 💔 But I managed to fight off the evil virus and am now gonna live my life to the fullest to honour my little brothers. I love to play and can wrestle as well as any of the big doggos here - don’t let them tell you they can’t be beaten by a puppy! So safe to say I’m a lively gal and need a good walk and play daily to burn a bit of my energy off so I don’t use it to get into trouble! When I'm not playing, I’m happiest when having a good snuggle. Even though I’m getting bigger now, I still love it when the volunteers pick me up or let me curl up in their lap for a cuddle. I share my space here with other puppies and adult dogs and we all get along great, so I would happily live somewhere with other dogs - as long as they also like to play! So if you’ve got a place in your home for a playful little gal, fill in an adoption application and I'll be snuggling in your arms in no time!

Hey friend! My name is Sol ☀️ My name literally means sun - because I’m like a little ray of sunshine! Not just because of my golden fur, but I also overhear the volunteers saying I’m super sweet, plus I know I give a good cuddle! A few months ago I was dumped outside the shelter as a little puppy and thankfully was immediately scooped up by a lovely volunteer who spotted me hiding in the bushes. Then I was lucky enough to go and live with some lovely fosters in Zihuatanejo for a few months. There I lived with three other puppies and a couple of adult dogs, so I learned how to get along with other dogs of all ages which helped me integrate really nicely into the shelter when I came back! Here at the shelter, I run and play with the other puppies all day long and love love love it. But with fond memories of my foster family, I think I’d like to find myself a real home now where I can stay and play forever! Looking for a little golden girl to spend your time with? Fill in an adoption application and I’ll come and brighten all your days soon! 💛

I’m not much of a writer so thought I’d do something a bit different for this bio thing and have prepared a little acrostic poem for you using my name! E: energetic, I love to run and play! S: sweet, I’m really gentle and love a snuggle. T: trainable, I learned quickly how to walk nicely on the leash and am ready to learn more! E: easygoing, I’m a good boy and get along with all of the other dogs here. B: beautiful, I hear the volunteers say this about me all the time! A: adoptable, I mean, right?! N: no-nonsense - I’m a chill guy and you won’t catch me getting into trouble with other doggies! If I sound like your kind of pup, fill out an adoption application and I’ll start packing my bags!

What’s up people! I’m Marcos - it’s good to meet you! I arrived at Amigos a couple of months back. You might have seen my story on social media? One of the volunteers was out walking and found a cardboard box on the side of the road all tied up with a little puppy inside, and that puppy was me! I’m so grateful that they found me, it was pretty scary being in that little box and I don’t know what would have happened if they didn’t find me and take me in!

Now I’m having the time of my life, running around playing with the other puppies here and getting daily walks and cuddles with the volunteers! I’m still a puppy and still growing bigger, which is making this place feel smaller. So although I might miss the volunteers and all my doggie friends here, I think I’m ready to pack my bags and find myself one of these “forever homes” I’ve heard so much about! Got room at your place for a cheeky, cuddly guy like me? Fill in an adoption application and I’ll see you soon ❤️

Hey friend, I’m Laura, it’s so nice to meet you! I arrived at Amigos some months ago with my babies, but they’re 8 months old now so are grown up and raising themselves, so I figure it’s time for me to look for a place to settle down and call home. I’m about 2 years old, so am no longer a puppy but still young at heart! If I had to describe myself in three words I’d say I’m affectionate, gentle and sweet. I guess I’m cheating there a bit because these are the words I hear the volunteers use when they talk about me 😇 I’m still pretty playful and am just learning how fun those tennis ball things are - woah what a rush chasing one of them! I’m so happy when I’m around the humans, and you’ll usually find me relaxing somewhere close by to them. After some time living inside the volunteer house recuperating after a little injury, I’ve learned how to behave in the house, and geez this “housetraining” thing is easy - who wants to pee inside anyway? Anyway, if you’re looking for a fun, loving gal to join you on this adventure we call life, maybe fill in an adoption application and I’ll see you soon!

Hello reader, I’m Rico! At Amigos I'm known for mostly keeping to myself and out of trouble. I love lounging in the shade, observing what the humans and other dogs are doing with their days. I never push to the front of the queue for anything but I love a cuddle or a walk when it’s my turn. And just between us, nothing makes me feel more special than when I'm chosen first! I’m a people pleaser and have learned that my volunteer friends like it when I stand with my front feet on a chair to help them get my harness on. I can get a bit excited once out of the house but always want to keep the humans happy so don’t pull much after the first minutes. It takes a lot for me to get angry, and I don’t usually react even if provoked but sometimes a yappy, snappy chihuahua interrupting my walk can get on my last nerve. What do I picture when I think of my forever family? A loving home where I'm always chosen first for an outing or a cuddle. Sound like your place? Fill out an adoption application today!

Hi folks, I’m Melissa. I came to Amigos in July with my chihuahua friend Violeta, we were abandoned in Barra de Potosí and lucky for us the lovely team at Amigos took us in to clean us up and care for us. When I arrived I was pretty stressed and didn’t want too much to do with the other dogs - or even the people! But now that I’m settling in more, I love it here. I have some new dog and cat friends and love getting attention from the volunteers, gosh they’re nice! They take me for a walk daily and I get to explore the area with them now that I’m getting used to those leash things! While I love it here, I don’t want to get too comfortable as I really want to find my forever person and a place to really call home - could that be with you?

Hey guys✌🏼 I’m Benito. I’m about 8 months old. I came to Amigos about 6 months ago with my mom, Laura, and my siblings. Of course I love it here but I think it’s time I start looking at getting out of here and seeing more of the world! I’m a pretty chill guy, I wouldn’t say that I’m shy with other dogs, but I do love some “me-time” where I can relax in the shade after playing. I tend to stay away from dogs that intimidate me and you’ll never catch me joining in on a fight! On the leash I’m a good boy, the volunteers here have taught me well! I always walk right next to them and rarely pull - only sometimes when my brother and I walk together, because we get a bit excited about heading out to adventure together! I would love to find a forever home where love, quality time and play are part of every day. I wouldn’t mind living with other dogs, it’s always nice to have canine company, but what I’m looking for most is a nice human to hang with! Could you be the one for me? My friends are calling me to play, maybe fill in an adoption application and we’ll talk later! Benito 🐾

HELLO! I’m Violeta! Sorry for shouting, just making sure you heard me from all the way down here, coz even for a chihuahua I’m pretty small! I came to Amigos in July with my friend Melissa after we were found abandoned nearby in Barra de Potosí. Luckily the lovely folks at Amigos found us and took us in to get us cleaned up and they are kindly taking care of us now. As is the way of the chihuahua I’m confident but can be a little skittish. I love running around the ankles of the volunteers until they come down to my level to give me scratches but being this cute it’s not that hard to get their attention! They say I’ve got this thing called “cherry eye”, I know the name sounds cute but actually it’s a bit of a nuisance. For now it’s not a big deal but I think in the future a quick surgery would make me more comfortable. Recently I’ve been learning to trot alongside the humans on leash and I really like going for little adventures in the jungle - or really anywhere! Are you looking for a pocket sized princess to hang with? I reckon I’m your gal! Hit the adoption application button and let’s hang out!

Hola hola! The name’s Hector - what’s yours? I’m around 8 months old, although you wouldn’t believe it to look at me coz I’m bigger than half the adult dogs here, and I’ve still got big paws to grow into! 🐾 While I’m a big fella, I’m really a gentle giant. I adore playing with the older doggies here but am known to cry wolf a bit when they play a little rough for my liking. You could describe my personality as playful and curious, I’m always looking for something to do and any activity, you name it, I’m there! Going for a walk? I’ll race you to the door! Got a toy? I’d love a turn! Wanna hit the beach? I’m ready to dig for treasure! I love the volunteers here, they’re the best because they love playing with me, so I think I’d do well in a house with kids (big ones though to match my size so I don’t accidentally hurt anyone!), but an active adult sure could keep me entertained too! Really I think I’d fit in anywhere coz I’m pretty easygoing. So if you’re looking for a new best friend, I reckon I’m your guy!

Hey friends! My name is Nicola. That's me there in the photo, pretty handsome right?! I know it looks a bit like I ate a bee, but my lips are all natural and all the better to smooch you with! I think I might even be the best kisser here at Amigos! I’ve been living at the shelter for a few years now and man they’ve been good to me! I have this thing with my back legs, the humans call it hip dysplasia, but I just call it a pain in the butt! I used to love going for runs and jumping around at the beach, but I know that too much activity isn’t good for my hips anymore. That being said, I’m well-mannered on leash and still love a daily stroll to get out of the house. I get along really well with all the dogs here and you won’t find me joining in any scuffles, but I really don’t mix well with the feline crowd and wouldn’t be suited to a house with cats. Also not a cat lover? Hit me up via the adoption button for feline-free hangs and gentle strolls about town! (PS: Swipe to see me and my siblings on the day we arrived here at Amigos. They have all been adopted to loving homes, they tell me it will be worth the wait!)

Sup folks! My name is Juanito and I’m looking for a home filled with cuddles & belly rubs (my favorite things!) The volunteers here say I’m friendly and sweet, I do like to be a gentleman. The kind people here at Amigos rescued me after a pretty nasty injury. They saved me and brought me to a new home but I had to have my back leg amputated. Let’s be honest, walking with 3 legs can be a bit of a challenge so I do prefer shorter walks with plenty of breaks. Walking with friends can make it a bit easier for me so I would love a home with a brother or sister (just not too active, because then I might not be able to keep up!) It would be great to find a home that can make sure I have a good diet & an active lifestyle since I have put on some weight since getting here. I am always smiling and love making people laugh so if you’re looking for a bit of brightness in your days, why not fill out an adoption form?

Hola! My name is Martina, although sometimes the volunteers at Amigos call me Martini because I’m a fancy lady. If you don’t fall for my beautiful blue eyes I think my loving, funny and independent personality should do the trick! I’m a very sweet lady who loves cuddles and human attention, although I’m a bit more picky when choosing canine friends, but who needs dogs when you’ve got humans - right?! All you have to do is say my name to get my tail wagging, and I love nothing more than having a good cuddle or getting belly scratches. I arrived at Amigos a few years ago ready to give birth to my beautiful puppies who all quickly found homes. However, shortly after giving birth, the veterinarian discovered that I had TVT Cancer. Luckily, with the help of my friends at Amigos, I was treated and have made a full recovery. On the leash, I’ll trot alongside you and usually never pull, only backwards sometimes, when I decide it’s time to go home, or sometimes if there’s a new dog (or chicken) I’d like to meet. I would love to find a loving forever home where I receive lots of attention and care. I would prefer not having to share my space, treats or cuddles, but I can learn to adapt as I often have to share the house at Amigos with other dogs when they’re invited inside and I happily let it slide as long as I still get my fair share attention from the humans! Kisses, Martina

Hi! I'm Rosalinda 👋 I'm about 1 year old now but have been at Amigos since I was a baby. They took me in and bottle-fed me at only a few days old. I was found without my mum and lost my siblings, but being a little fighter, I grew into a beautiful girl! Since the amigo team saved my life, I like to thank them with extra cuddles, kisses and affection! (Swipe to see my journey) I like to get to know other dogs and people first, but once confirmed they are nice, my fun and sweet personality comes through and I might even play! The volunteers love my freckles and I am the only ginger pup of the pack. Oh, my eye you are asking? No idea what happened, I must have been too young to remember. But the other eye works perfectly fine, I don't need special care and I can navigate the world just like any other dog. While I like other dogs, I don't like sharing my food with them, so in my dream home, I would like to be the only princess or share with cats like I used to.

Back when I was younger, someone did something pretty mean to me and now my front feet look a bit different to all my friends. I don’t let it get me down though, why focus on the past when the future is so bright?! So yeah I've got a limp in my step and might not be the best pick for hiking or trail running but I still love a nice walk and keep up well with the others if we’re not going too far. Despite my fancy feet, I’m a pretty energetic and playful guy and would love to find my forever person to hang out and play with for the rest of my years. Hi there, my name is Lucia!🐕‍🦺 I am celebrating my first birthday this month. While I would love some new toys, I only wish to celebrate my following birthdays in my forever home. What should that home look like, you are asking? To be honest, I am open to anything. It might be best to not live with young children as I am pretty large and could accidentally knock them over when getting excited. Having a dog buddy to play with, on the other hand, sounds incredible. But as long as my new people keep my cheeky mind occupied, being the only furry child works for me. As much as I love to exercise, I also love attention. We could adventure during the day and cuddle on the sofa in the evening. You tell me your stories, and I tilt my head listening. The volunteers here tell me I am intelligent, so I try to prove them right by not pulling on my leash. I'm still young and need training, but being a shepherd mix, I learn quickly and am eager to please. I hope to hear from you!

It’s not like I don’t like people - quite the opposite actually - but having been hurt in the past, I just want to make sure I can trust you first. Since I moved to Amigos, I have opened up and made so many friends, but sometimes the past creeps up on me and I get scared, especially by new men. Being a true Hot Dog Connoisseur, special treats are the way to my heart. The volunteers say I’m the perfect large dog on small legs and I would have to agree. They also like how I wrap my body around them and boop them with my nose when asking for attention. My ideal home would be somewhere with nice ladies that are happy to work with me through scary moments and enjoy cuddles and quality time. I like the other dogs I live with and wouldn’t mind some four-legged siblings in my future home. In case you know someone that sounds like we would make a good team, please share this with them and let them fill out the application form! Thanks, Liborio

Sometimes I can snap a bit when other girls get in my face, that’s something I’m working on though - nobody is perfect, right? Call me selfish but after sharing my space for a while here I think I might fit in better to life as the only dog in the house. I didn't particularly appreciate living on the streets, so I continued showing up at Amigos until they took me in. You may think I did that for food and safety, and while those were factors, I mainly wanted to be surrounded by kind people. People describe me as affectionate yet independent. I am very energetic but appreciate downtime; oh, and did I mention yet that I am a good girl on the leash? I'm super playful, but not every dog is my cup of tea (I'm sure you feel the same way about humans, too, right?) It's worth mentioning that I am considered the best stick carrier at the shelter! I’m an energetic gal and nothing makes me happier than a long walk or run exploring the outside world. I get a bit excited when it’s time to go out and know I need to work on not pulling the humans out the door when it’s time to take them for a walk. But don’t worry, my volunteer pals here have been working on my walking manners and I’m a quick learner - if I may say so myself 😉 While I can put on the independent act at first, really I want nothing more than to be close to my people and love a good cuddle once I’m comfortable. I get along well with other dogs (I’ve got 19 housemates so I know how to share my space!) that being said, I’d definitely prefer to be your top gal and might do better in a house with male dogs or as your only canine companion. The volunteers at Amigos let me hang out in the house because I’m so well-behaved, and really I just like a cool place to have a lie down after a long day with the young’uns. I do like an extra snack if there’s one on offer (I mean, who doesn’t?!) but don’t be fooled, while I’m a bit of a larger gentleman, I still love a good walk or run, especially if it’s at the beach where I can dig for treasure or have a splash in the waves! They were super cute and found homes quickly, but I stayed behind. Knowing my babies are safe now, it is time to put myself out there to find a loving home. Not knowing love while I lived on the streets, I now want to make the most of all the cuddles I can get. I love the humans here, enjoy going on walks and am very polite on a leash unless there is a cat I can chase. While I'm usually mildly mannered, female dogs can trigger me, and I would prefer to be the only pet or share my space with a calm male dog. My grey snout shows that I am no longer a young pup, but I'm still very active and have no health issues. After adjusting to new people, he is confident and playful and loves people and attention. For his age he still acts the puppy at times. Everyone that visits the shelter falls in love with Valentino. On the leash he is very polite and stays close when you let him off the leash too. He's an all-round good boy that gets on well with other dogs and humans but can be reactive specifically to large men. He can be protective and will be reactive if he senses a threat. He should not be in a home with children or a less-confident owner.

Raquel - Raquel is a very sweet and quirky girl. She is a bit wary of meeting new people but once she warms up you’ll have a cuddle buddy for life. She’s quite good with other dogs and loves playing with our bigger puppies. On the leash she still requires quite a bit of work, she’s unsure of new environments and can be very stubborn though we’ve seen quite a lot of improvement thanks to her 1on1 training. NOTE: She has no front teeth - great if you're worried about a biter! It's likely due to poor nutrition as a pup but does not seem to be a problem for her now as she is able to eat fine. This may be part of the reason for her wariness with new dogs and people.

Hello world, I am Nico! ☀️ Let's address the obvious first. I am a tripod dog. My front leg needed amputation after a car accident I got into as a puppy. But before you start feeling sorry for me, I am recovered and still loving life! If anything, the accident has taught me to make the most of every day. Going by that, I want to be friends with all dogs and humans; I love sticks and toys and am like the other young dogs in many ways. Exercise and a good diet are crucial to staying fit on three legs, so my human needs to help me with that. My disability shouldn't define me, and finding a home that can provide me with one of those cool prosthetics would be life-changing! If you can offer me an accessible home or foster place, please fill in an application; I will be forever grateful!

Hola, I'm Lola! 🤍 Since you're reading this, you might be looking for a new best friend - and, hey, so am I! I don't care how old you are or what you look like, but I'm approximately one year old and pretty cute if those things matter to you. Yeah, that's me in the picture with the silky, soft fur and the spotted paws. My love language is quality time, but I'm cool with us doing our own thing occasionally. People often describe me as easy-going, curious, and calm, so I think I fit most homes. I'd love to play with other dogs, chew on a toy, or nap when I'm not adventuring with you. So, what do you say? Want to be besties?

Guerro is the first dog we ever rescued! This means he has been waiting for his family for a VERY long time. He is so well behaved and never causes any problems. He likes to tag along on walking times in the morning but prefers to spend his days getting belly rubs while resting in the sun. He likes other dogs but generally spends his days laying in the shade in front of the shelter. He is happy on his own and is really just in need of some human companionship. He is so relaxed and easy going, happy to rest and get some pets and he doesn’t need much more than that. He is just a sweet kind hearted older gentleman looking for his home to finally retire in. NOTE: Guero has a problem with a recurring scar in his groin area. He is being treated but may need additional care after adoption. Please ask about this if you are interested in adopting him.

Adriano has so much energy and be has a silly face with his big tongue always flopping out, just looking at him makes you laugh. He is very trusting and warms to new people really fast but can be a bit skittish in new situations (cars and horses), he just wants to sit on your lap even though he's far too big! He likes to play with the other dogs and gets the zoomies around the yard most days. He came to us with his sister Andrea and both are still available. He does still pull on the leash so needs some training in that area and he is strong so someone strong who can train him. He's very loving with other dogs and humans and will make a great pet.

This little lady is nothing but sweet. Regardless of the size of your family, we are confident she would get along with people and pets alike. She likes her life drama free and could be perfect for someone looking to take their dog to the office, a busy family, or an older person. Catalina would happily live in an apartment or an accessible home without many stairs. A traumatic injury has caused a slightly deformed back foot that limits her ability to walk long distances. However, that doesn't stop her from enjoying leisure walks, good company, and belly rubs.
