America is a very special case. She came to us as a victim of a traumatic brain injury, most likely caused by a human. Because of this she is untrustworthy of people and can be unpredictable. She doesn’t seek affection or go for walks. However she has formed bonds with the other dogs in her pen and is happiest when playing with her best friend Livorio. She has recently started having seizures and thanks to our generous community she's responding well to medication. We're not sure what's next for her but would love to see her go to a home that is compassionate and can give her the support she needs.

Hi there, my name is Andrea! I came to Amigos as a little puppy and have been lucky enough to live here ever since! However, I think it’s time I find myself one of these forever homes!
I’m an energetic gal and nothing makes me happier than a long walk or run exploring the outside world. I get a bit excited when it’s time to go out and know I need to work on not pulling the humans out the door when it’s time to take them for a walk.
Sometimes I get a little nervous when it comes to new places or meeting new people on our walks. But don’t worry, my volunteer pals here have been working on my leash manners and confidence and I’m a quick learner - if I may say so myself 😉
While I can put on the independent act at first, really I want nothing more than to be close to my people and love a good cuddle once I’m comfortable.
I get along well with other dogs (I’ve always had to share my space here at the shelter!) that being said, I’d prefer to be your top gal and might do better in a house with male dogs or as your only canine companion.
But enough about me, fill in an adoption application and you can tell me all about yourself!

Hey guys✌🏼 I’m Benito. I came to Amigos as a little baby with my mom, Laura, and my siblings. Of course I love it here but I think it’s time I start looking at getting out of here and seeing more of the world!
I’m a pretty chill guy, I wouldn’t say that I’m shy with other dogs, but I do love some “me-time” where I can relax in the shade after playing. I tend to stay away from dogs that intimidate me and you’ll never catch me joining in on a fight!
On the leash I’m a good boy but because of my size I can be strong when I get the urge to sniff or check out something exciting, but the volunteers have been working with me on my manners and I’m improving all the time.
I would love to find a forever home where love, quality time and play are part of every day. I wouldn’t mind living with other dogs, it’s always nice to have canine company, but what I’m looking for most is a nice human to hang with! Could you be the one for me?
My friends are calling me to play, maybe fill in an adoption application and we’ll talk later!

Hey guys, I am Brenda! I'm a young, medium-sized doggo looking for a place to call home. I didn't particularly appreciate living on the streets, so I continued showing up at Amigos until they took me in. You may think I did that for food and safety, and while those were factors, I mainly wanted to be surrounded by kind people.
People describe me as affectionate yet independent. I am very energetic but appreciate downtime; oh, and did I mention yet that I am a good girl on the leash? I'm super playful, but not every dog is my cup of tea (I'm sure you feel the same way about humans, too, right?) It's worth mentioning that I am considered the best stick carrier at the shelter!
If you love hiking, running or other outdoor activities, you should hit me up so we can be adventure buddies and do this life thing together.

Hello world! My name is Cacha and I’m so excited to introduce myself! I'm a sweet little guy, full of energy and affection in equal measure!
I have this annoying thing called hip dysplasia, but I don't really let it slow me down!
I don’t shy away when it’s playtime and I'm super friendly with both doggies and people.
I'm really good on a leash too - most of the time… I can be easily distracted by the wonders of the world (like lizards or interesting scents!) but I try to be a good boy and fall back to trot alongside you.
A perfect day for me includes a good walk or outdoor adventure, followed by a tasty breakfast and some snoozy snuggle time - sound good to you?
So if you’re looking for a sweet little boy to join you for adventures and snuggles, fill out an adoption application today!

Well hello there! My name is Catalina, it’s a pleasure to make your acquaintance! When I was a puppy, I had an accident that I don’t really remember that left me with a deformed back foot. Luckily shortly after that I was found by the amazing Amigos people and have lived here ever since!
I don’t let my little foot get me down though, it’s only made me appreciate life at a slower pace which isn’t a bad thing! In fact, I’m the master of the “puppy eyes” and it always gets me what I want most - a snuggle and scratch from the humans here.
I love to sidle up to the volunteers and look longingly into their eyes until they submit to giving a belly rub.
I still get so excited to go for a walk, even if my foot stops me from going too far or too fast! I do little jumps and flips when I see the leash come out and hear my name being called. I’m so happy to go on a lap of the block to smell the flowers, meet other doggies and say hi to whoever else is out and about. When I get tired I give the signal (a sit-down and smile) to ask - is it home time?
My perfect home? Well, I think that’d be with anyone not looking for a super active dog, but a sweet and snuggly companion to enjoy the simple things in life, like a cup of tea on the couch and maybe watching a nice rom-com together?
If I sound like your cup of tea (see what I did there?!) fill out an adoption application and we could be lounging together soon ❤

Hey, what’s up! I’m Elena! While my friends say I could be a model, I don’t really care about looks and am more of an athletic tom-boy type and would rather go for a run in the forest and fetch sticks than worry about my looks.
I’ve got many doggo friends at Amigos and I’m generally pretty chill when hanging with the fellas. Sometimes I can snap a bit when other girls get in my face, that’s something I’m working on though - nobody is perfect, right?
Call me selfish but after sharing my space for a while here I think I might fit in better to life as the only dog in the house.
While I love a bit of action and adventure, under my tough girl exterior I am actually a real softie and love a cuddle. I really just want someone nice to spend my days hanging with. I love being around people and can’t wait to meet my forever person. Could that be you?

Hey friends, my name is Esteban - it's nice to meet you!
I'm an energetic and sweet boy of about one and a half years old. As a gentle soul I love nothing more than a quiet snuggle.
I'm well-mannered on leash and think I'm a pretty quick learner for any other good manners and tricks you want to teach me! Plus I'm super food motivated so learn even quicker if there's a treat on offer 😋
If I sound like your kind of pup, fill out an adoption application and I’ll start packing my bags!

Frida is a kind and relaxed soul. She is very enthusiastic and loving with people but definitely enjoys a slower pace of life. She's extremely well-tempered and never gets in to any trouble. She enjoys laid back walks, lots of cuddles and is very friendly with other dogs and people. If you are looking for a dog who's always chilled and calm but also full of love then look no further, Frida is the one for you! She has bad skin from past mange but is in great health now.

Guerro is the first dog we ever rescued! This means he has been waiting for his family for a VERY long time. He is so well behaved and never causes any problems. He likes to tag along on walking times in the morning but prefers to spend his days getting belly rubs while resting in the sun. He likes other dogs but generally spends his days laying in the shade in front of the shelter. He is happy on his own and is really just in need of some human companionship. He is so relaxed and easy going, happy to rest and get some pets and he doesn’t need much more than that. He is just a sweet kind hearted older gentleman looking for his home to finally retire in. NOTE: Guero has a problem with a recurring scar in his groin area. He is being treated but may need additional care after adoption. Please ask about this if you are interested in adopting him.

Hola! My name is Isidro. It’s a pleasure to meet you. I’ve been living at Amigos for a few years now. I’m a little older than some of my housemates here and sometimes find them a bit immature, so I think I’m ready to move in somewhere I can settle in and call home for the rest of my years.
The volunteers at Amigos let me hang out in the house because I’m so well-behaved, and really I just like a cool place to have a lie down after a long day with the young’uns.
I do like an extra snack if there’s one on offer (I mean, who doesn’t?!) but don’t be fooled, while I’m a bit of a larger gentleman, I still love a good walk or run, especially if it’s at the beach where I can dig for treasure or have a splash in the waves! That’s actually my happy place - surely you can relate?
If you’ve read this far, maybe you’re also looking for someone new to spend time with. Could it be me?

Sup folks! My name is Juanito and I’m looking for a home filled with cuddles & belly rubs (my favorite things!) The volunteers here say I’m friendly and sweet, I do like to be a gentleman.
The kind people here at Amigos rescued me after a pretty nasty injury. They saved me and brought me to a new home but I had to have my back leg amputated. Let’s be honest, walking with 3 legs can be a bit of a challenge so I do prefer shorter walks with plenty of breaks. Walking with friends can make it a bit easier for me so I would love a home with a brother or sister (just not too active, because then I might not be able to keep up!)
It would be great to find a home that can make sure I have a good diet & an active lifestyle since I have put on some weight since getting here. I am always smiling and love making people laugh so if you’re looking for a bit of brightness in your days, why not fill out an adoption form?

Hola, nice to meet you! I am Karla. Let me tell you a little about myself, so you can determine if we could be the perfect match! I came to Amigos with my two puppies, Maya and Boris. They were super cute and found homes quickly, but I stayed behind.
Knowing my babies are safe now, it is time to put myself out there to find a loving home. Not knowing love while I lived on the streets, I now want to make the most of all the cuddles I can get. I love the humans here, enjoy going on walks and am very polite on a leash unless there is a cat I can chase. While I'm usually mildly mannered, female dogs can trigger me, and I would prefer to be the only pet or share my space with a calm male dog. My grey snout shows that I am no longer a young pup, but I'm still very active and have no health issues. Whether my sweet personality, big ears, warm eyes or cute smile make you fall for me, please fill in an application.

Hi! My name is Liborio, but my friends call me Libo.
I guess you could say I’m a bit of an introvert. It’s not like I don’t like people - quite the opposite actually, I love humans and am super affectionate - I just want to make sure I can trust you first.
Being a true Hot Dog Connoisseur, special treats are the way to my heart. The volunteers say I’m the perfect large dog on small legs and I would have to agree. They also like how I wrap my body around them and boop them with my nose when asking for attention. My ideal home would be somewhere with nice people that are happy to work with me through scary moments and enjoy cuddles and quality time.
I like the other dogs I live with and wouldn’t mind some four-legged siblings in my future home. In case you know someone that sounds like we would make a good team, please share this with them and let them fill out the application form!
Thanks, Liborio

Hola, I'm Lola! 🤍 Since you're reading this, you might be looking for a new best friend - and, hey, so am I!
I don't care how old you are or what you look like, but I'm approximately two years old and pretty cute if those things matter to you. Yeah, that's me in the picture with the silky, soft fur and the spotted paws.
My love language is quality time, but I'm cool with us doing our own thing occasionally.
People often describe me as easy-going, curious, and calm, so I think I fit most homes. I'd love to play with other dogs, chew on a toy, or nap when I'm not adventuring with you.
So, what do you say? Want to be besties?

What’s up people! I’m Marcos - it’s good to meet you! I arrived at Amigos las year. You might have seen my story on social media? One of the volunteers was out walking and found a cardboard box on the side of the road all tied up with a little puppy inside, and that puppy was me!
I’m so grateful that they found me, it was pretty scary being in that little box and I don’t know what would have happened if they didn’t find me and take me in!
Now I’m having the time of my life, running around playing with the other puppies here and getting daily walks and cuddles with the volunteers!
I’m still a puppy and still growing bigger, which is making this place feel smaller. So although I might miss the volunteers and all my doggie friends here, I think I’m ready to pack my bags and find myself one of these “forever homes” I’ve heard so much about!
Got room at your place for a cheeky, cuddly guy like me? Fill in an adoption application and I’ll see you soon ❤️

Hola! My name is Martina, although sometimes the volunteers at Amigos call me Martini because I’m a fancy lady. If you don’t fall for my beautiful blue eyes I think my loving, funny and independent personality should do the trick!
I’m a very sweet lady who loves cuddles and human attention, although I’m a bit more picky when choosing canine friends, but who needs dogs when you’ve got humans - right?! All you have to do is say my name to get my tail wagging, and I love nothing more than having a good cuddle or getting belly scratches.
I arrived at Amigos a few years ago ready to give birth to my beautiful puppies who all quickly found homes. However, shortly after giving birth, the veterinarian discovered that I had TVT Cancer. Luckily, with the help of my friends at Amigos, I was treated and have made a full recovery.
On the leash, I’ll trot alongside you and usually never pull, only backwards sometimes, when I decide it’s time to go home, or sometimes if there’s a new dog (or chicken) I’d like to meet.
I would love to find a loving forever home where I receive lots of attention and care. I would prefer not having to share my space, treats or cuddles, but I can learn to adapt as I often have to share the house at Amigos with other dogs when they’re invited inside and I happily let it slide as long as I still get my fair share attention from the humans!
Kisses,
Martina

‘Sup guys! It’s Matias here 👋 I’m a handsome young fella and I’m on the hunt for my forever home!
I’m energetic and playful and love nothing more than to run around with my friends, canine or human, it doesn’t matter to me as long as they’re ready to play!
I’m a social boy and get along well with other dogs, especially those who can keep up with my boisterous energy!
On leash I’m usually pretty good but can be easily distracted when something exciting like a lizard goes by! But I quickly regain my cool, I promise... 🦎😁
After a day of play, I transform into a snuggle monster, using my sweet puppy eyes to charm my way into getting all the belly rubs and cuddles my little heart desires.

Hi folks, I’m Melissa. I came to Amigos in July 2023 with my chihuahua friend Violeta, we were abandoned in Barra de Potosí and lucky for us the lovely team at Amigos took us in to clean us up and care for us.
When I arrived I was pretty stressed and didn’t want too much to do with the other dogs - or even the people! But now that I’m settling in more, I love it here. I have some new dog and cat friends and love getting attention from the volunteers, gosh they’re nice! They take me for a walk daily and I get to explore the area with them now that I’m getting used to those leash things!
While I love it here, I don’t want to get too comfortable as I really want to find my forever person and a place to really call home - could that be with you?

Hey friends! My name is Nicola. That's me there in the photo, pretty handsome right?! I know it looks a bit like I ate a bee, but my lips are all natural and all the better to smooch you with! I think I might even be the best kisser here at Amigos!
I’ve been living at the shelter for a few years now and man they’ve been good to me! I have this thing with my back legs, the humans call it hip dysplasia, but I just call it a pain in the butt!
I used to love going for runs and jumping around at the beach, but I know that too much activity isn’t good for my hips anymore. That being said, I’m well-mannered on leash and still love a daily stroll to get out of the house.
I get along really well with all the dogs here and you won’t find me joining in any scuffles, but I really don’t mix well with the feline crowd and wouldn’t be suited to a house with cats.
Also not a cat lover? Hit me up via the adoption button for feline-free hangs and gentle strolls about town!

‘Sup guys! I’m Palmer, but you can call me your new best friend! While I’m not a large dog, what I lack in size I make up for in personality! You’ll quickly learn that my playful energy is just as infectious as my giant smile.
Adventures? Count me in! A walk to explore the neighbourhood, a hike in the great outdoors, a run in the park, whatever you’re into - I'm there!
I love a cuddle and get so excited when the volunteers come to spend time with me. And trust me, I know how to turn the charm on to get some belly rubs and affection 😌
In terms of my social preferences.. while I love playing with other dogs, they don’t always love playing with me. I just want to have fun but sometimes in all the excitement I can play a bit rough and get myself into trouble. So I think I might be best suited to being the only dog in the house - but that means more bonding time for you and me, right?!
I promise if you fill in an adoption application, I’ll bring fun, laughs and a whole lot of love into your life. So what do you say?!

Hola amigos! Nice to meet you, my name is Ramon and I really like the sound of these “forever homes” I’ve heard so much about!
I’m a little tiger-striped boy full of energy and love to give! As a smaller doggo, I live with the puppies here at the shelter and we always have the most fun playing, walking and napping together.
So it's safe to say I get along well with other dogs and am happy to share my space - and my toys!
On leash, I’m great solo, and when walking with a canine buddy I tend to mirror whatever they’re doing... if they’re well-mannered, well me too! If they want to be a little silly, who am I to say no?! 🤪
But above all, I’m a gentle little guy eager to find my human companion. Could that be you?

Hello reader, I’m Raquel! I’m a sweet and goofy girl of about three and a half years old. I’m usually calm and laidback but take a little time to warm up to new people and I can be a bit vocal when I’m nervous 🙊 However, once I’m comfortable with someone, they’ve got a friend for life, and I’ve got a lot of love to give!
I get along super well with other doggies and have a little girl gang here at the shelter that I love spending my days with.
I walk well on leash but sometimes get a bit nervous about exploring new places and need a bit of encouragement or better yet, a canine walking partner to show me that it’s okay!
I’d do best in a house that already has some dogs so I have some friends to help me build my confidence.
A fun fact about me? I’m missing my front teeth! I don’t really remember why, but it doesn’t really impact me. I can still eat and drink like any other doggo. And it means for me the saying “my bark is worse than my bite” is really true!
Are you wanting to add a new girly to your pack? Fill in an adoption application today and we can hang out super soon!

Hiya, my name is Reina. In February ’23 I became the proud mother to ten wonderful puppies. I’m still a little tired after raising my kids, (gosh they ask for a lot don’t they?) but now they’re getting a bit older they don’t need me as much and I’m quietly a bit excited that they will be ready to fly the coop soon and am ready to hopefully do the same myself!
I’m a sweet gal with excellent manners, especially on leash, I only know this because the volunteers here are always complimenting me on this!
My favourite thing at the moment is a quiet walk in the woods, followed by breakfast and a quiet (read: puppy-free) snooze in the shade.
My ideal home, you ask? Well, yours of course! I really get along with everyone I’ve met so far and can’t wait to meet you!

Hello reader, I’m Rico! At Amigos I'm known for mostly keeping to myself and out of trouble. I love lounging in the shade, observing what the humans and other dogs are doing with their days.
I never push to the front of the queue for anything but I love a cuddle or a walk when it’s my turn. And just between us, nothing makes me feel more special than when I'm chosen first!
I’m a people pleaser and have learned that my volunteer friends like it when I stand with my front feet on a chair to help them get my harness on.
I can get a bit excited once out of the house but always want to keep the humans happy so don’t pull much after the first minutes.
It takes a lot for me to get angry, and I don’t usually react even if provoked but sometimes a yappy, snappy chihuahua interrupting my walk can get on my last nerve.
What do I picture when I think of my forever family? A loving home where I'm always chosen first for an outing or a cuddle. Sound like your place? Fill out an adoption application today!

Hi, I'm Roberta. I am writing to find my future-best friend. I don't mind who you are; I love all humans! You could be one person or a big family, younger or older; as long as you love me, I will love you right back! I'm a big, strong goofball and sometimes forget about my size. My hobbies include long walks, cuddles and pretty much whatever makes you happy! My current neighbours are 130 cats, which I don't mind having around. Hiya! My name is Valentino, what’s yours? I’m a gentleman of about 6 or 7 years old, but what does age matter, you’re as young as you feel, right?
Here at the shelter, I take my self-appointed role as the guardian of all things Amigos quite seriously. You'll often find me lounging by the front fence, ensuring that no trouble lurks beyond the walls that needs my watchful eye or a warning bark.
But I’m not just a protective boy, I’m also one of the most affectionate fellas around. Often seeking attention when people are around and have a soft spot for a good butt scratch – my absolute fave!
I’m the best boy on leash and will trot right alongside you at all times. Even off leash, I stay close, ensuring we share quality time while getting in our exercise.
I do have some quirks – like not being the biggest fan of motorbikes (why are they so loud?!), so I might let out a bark or two if they go by too quickly. But that’s just my way of keeping us both safe on the road.
I’m looking forward to finding a forever home full of love where I can continue my work keeping my favourite people safe. If you’d like to be one of those people, fill in an adoption application and we can get acquainted real soon!
